Assurance Assistant – 12-Week Contract\n
Location: Manchester\n
Contract: 12 Weeks\n
Rate: £19.27 per hour (Umbrella Ltd)\n
\n We are currently recruiting for an Assurance Assistant to join a well-established organisation in Manchester on a 12-week contract. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in information governance, GDPR, data protection, or compliance to support a busy Risk and Assurance team.\n
The Role\n
\n As an Assurance Assistant, you will work closely with the Risk & Assurance Manager and Data Protection Officer (DPO), helping to ensure the organisation remains compliant with GDPR and information governance requirements.\n
\n Key responsibilities include:\n
    \n
  • Managing Subject Access Requests (SARs) from initial request through to completion.
    • \n
  • Collecting, collating and reviewing information from multiple departments to meet statutory deadlines.
    • \n
  • Redacting sensitive and third-party information in line with GDPR legislation.
    • \n
  • Supporting the investigation of data breaches and assisting with reporting and recommendations.
    • \n
  • Maintaining key information governance registers, including SAR, Data Breach, Data Sharing Agreement (DSA) and Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) registers.
    • \n
  • Assisting with Data Sharing Agreements and Data Protection Impact Assessments.
    • \n
  • Managing the DPO inbox and responding to internal data protection queries.
    • \n
  • Producing reports on data requests, breaches, trends and compliance activity.
    • \n
  • Supporting the maintenance of policies, procedures and governance documentation.
    • \n
  • Working collaboratively with teams across the organisation to promote best practice in information governance.
    • \n
About You\n
\n To be successful in this role, you will have:\n
    \n
  • Experience working within data protection, information governance, compliance, assurance or a similar environment.
    • \n
  • A good understanding of GDPR and data protection legislation.
    • \n
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
    • \n
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when handling confidential and sensitive information.
    • \n
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • \n
  • Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office applications.
    • \n
