They’d always lived together and were terrified they’d be split up. Our social worker did a great job persuading Mrs D to get hospital treatment and a temporary stay in a care home. In an epic effort throughout COVID, she gained the son’s trust and sorted all the repairs, carers, therapists and nurses needed so that Mrs D could come home to live with her son. We also got Mr D regular respite and a personal budget awarded in recognition of him as her carer. After all, there’s nothing more important than living the life you want.

The Role:

As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you can make your own powerful contribution to people across Westminster. Responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the service alongside senior colleagues, everything you do will prioritise the independence, dignity, choice, self-esteem and wellbeing of service users.

Acting as a source of expert advice and guidance, you’ll manage a team of OT Associates, ensuring their support and care plans meet assessed support needs. You’ll also oversee their performance, supporting your team to grow and develop for the good of service users. Where necessary, you’ll represent the OT service at internal and external meetings, collaborating with a wide range of colleagues, partners and stakeholders to drive continuous improvement across the service. Where emergency situations arise, you’ll ensure they’re dealt with effectively and efficiently.

About You:

An qualified Occupational Therapist with at least 5-7 years of post qualifying experience — including 3 years in a local authority — you’ll have great working knowledge of relevant legislation. You’ll have supervised staff in a previous role, and will be capable of effectively managing group dynamics, promoting partnership working, and collaborating across a multi-disciplinary team.

Bringing advanced skills in the assessment, treatment and care management of people with complex multi-pathologies, you’ll have the ability to make effective decisions under pressure. On a personal level, you’ll have excellent interpersonal, time management and people management skills.
