Job description
We are working with a structured semh school in Wanstead Redbridge looking for a Behaviour Support TA who can handle challenge without escalating situations. This is not a passive classroom support role. This is a long-term role starting in September 2026 with strong potential to continue across the academic year. You will be supporting pupils who need clear boundaries calm adults and consistent routines. The school is looking for someone who can build trust manage behaviour professionally and work alongside experienced staff. What the role involves: - Supporting pupils with SEMH behaviour needs and additional learning needs - Helping pupils stay regulated and engaged in learning - Working with teachers pastoral staff and behaviour leads - Long-term consistent work rather than random day-to-day cover What they are looking for: - A calm firm and reliable personality - Experience in schools youth work mentoring PRU/AP or behaviour support - Someone who can de-escalate not inflame situations - Thick skin patience and a professional mindset Pay: 95 - 115 per day Location: Wanstead Redbridge (IG1 1BP) Start date: September 2026 Apply now if you are securing a long-term September role.

Postgraduate qualification or accredited training in SEND (e.g. National Award for SEN Coordination Autism Education Trust dyslexia/SpLD or SEMH)Proficiency in alternative/augmentative communication methodsMakaton PECS AAC using evidence-based interventions such as TEACCH SCERTS or Positive Behaviour in Team-Teach MAPA or similar de-escalation and safe-handling with assistive ed-tech tools and adaptive software
