What youll be doing
As an Optometrist at Boots youll play a key role in delivering brilliant patient care using the latest tech working alongside experienced colleagues and supporting your community with clinical excellence. Whether youre leading a clinic responding to triage or mentoring others no two days are the same and your growth never stops.

Key responsibilities
  • Leading clinics and delivering outstanding patient care
  • Using the latest testing technology to assess eye health and provide expert advice
  • Providing enhanced services from triage support to advanced assessments depending on store needs
  • Offering clinical support to colleagues on the shop floor
  • Collaborating with external healthcare professionals
  • Keeping your clinical knowledge up to date and sharing it with others
  • Playing a key role in your stores leadership team bringing energy and insight to every shift

What youll need to have (our must-haves)
  • Were looking for Optometrists who are confident compassionate and always focused on doing the right thing for patients.
  • GOC registered (or expecting to be within 6 months)
  • NHS performer number (or working towards it)
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills
  • A genuine interest in patient care and team collaboration

It would be great if you also have
  • Experience supporting enhanced services
  • A strong understanding of local clinical networks

Role: Optometrist (Maternity Cover Fixed Term Contract)

Services delivered in store: As the base store within a wider hub Boots Opticians Preston is a busy and well-established practice delivering a range of NHS and private optical services. The store benefits from both Optomap and OCT technology and has recently undergone a refresh providing a modern and welcoming environment for patients and colleagues alike.

Team structure: You will be joining an experienced and supportive team including 2 Resident Optometrists a Pre-Registration Optometrist and a Contact Lens Optician. As part of this role you will be expected to support and supervise the Pre-Registration Optometrist making previous post-qualification experience essential. We are ideally looking for an Optometrist with at least one years experience who is confident in providing clinical guidance and mentorship.

This role requires flexibility across the trading week including weekend working and offers the opportunity to work within a collaborative hub environment while maintaining Preston as your base location.

Situated in Preston town centre the store benefits from excellent transport connections with the train station within easy reach and direct links to Manchester Blackpool Liverpool and the wider North West. Preston offers a vibrant mix of shopping restaurants green spaces and cultural attractions while providing easy access to both city life and the surrounding Lancashire countryside.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Optometrist looking to further develop their leadership and supervisory skills within a supportive technology-enabled practice.
