Job description

Job Description

Service Care Legal are currently recruiting on behalf of a North London Borough Council for an experienced Childcare Advocate to join their in-house legal team on a rolling 3-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a Solicitor or Barrister with strong public childcare law experience who enjoys advocacy and wants to focus primarily on representing the local authority at court.\n

LOCATION: North / West London\n
RATE: £55ph umbrella / £48.89ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / £43.62ph PAYE exc. holiday pay\n
CONTRACT: 36 hours per week / 3 months rolling\n

The Role\n

\n
    \n
  • Conduct advocacy at public law childcare hearings on behalf of the Council.
    • \n
  • Progress cases through the court process, attending hearings as required.
    • \n
  • Support the wider legal team with drafting, legal advice and training when advocacy commitments allow.
    • \n
  • Work collaboratively with Children's Services and legal colleagues to achieve positive outcomes.
    • \n

The Candidate\n
\n
\n
    \n
  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive Advocate with rights of audience.
    • \n
  • Strong experience conducting advocacy in public childcare proceedings.
    • \n
  • Confident managing hearings independently with excellent advocacy skills.
    • \n
  • Local authority experience is desirable but not essential.
    • \n
