Job description

At ZeroAvia, we're pioneering the transition to zero-emission aviation. As a leader in clean aviation technology, we're seeking a System Requirements Engineer to play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality, integrity and traceability of requirements across our fuel cell systems supporting the delivery of safe, certifiable aerospace products that are transforming the future of flight.

This role sits at the heart of our systems engineering organisation, acting as the focal point for requirements engineering excellence. You will work closely with engineering, safety, certification and supplier teams to define, validate and manage requirements throughout the development lifecycle, ensuring compliance with aerospace standards and supporting successful certification programmes.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Elicit, derive and author high-quality requirements at aircraft-interface, system and equipment levels, ensuring they are clear, verifiable and traceable.
  • Own end-to-end requirements traceability, including decomposition, derivation rationale and alignment with safety and certification objectives.
  • Lead requirements validation activities, including reviews, validation matrices and evidence generation to support development assurance plans.
  • Develop equipment and item-level specifications, including controller requirements, hardware/software allocation and design constraints.
  • Manage interface requirements, supplier requirements flow-down and compliance reviews, maintaining robust configuration and change control processes.
  • Champion requirements engineering best practice across the organisation through coaching, quality reviews and continuous improvement activities.

Role Requirements

  • Degree-qualified in Aerospace, Electronic, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in systems or requirements engineering within aerospace, including involvement in aircraft certification programmes.
  • Strong expertise in ARP4754B requirements processes, including requirements capture, validation, decomposition and traceability.
  • Working knowledge of ARP4761/A, DO-178C and DO-254, with experience allocating requirements across hardware and software domains.
  • Proven experience using Polarion or equivalent requirements management tools, alongside established requirements authoring methodologies such as EARS, INCOSE or ISO/IEC/IEEE 29148.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence technical teams, mentor colleagues and operate effectively in fast-paced, multidisciplinary engineering environments.
