About the Role
\n
Monarch Education are working with a range of secondary schools across Tewkesbury who require dependable Maths Teachers to deliver high-quality lessons and provide cover from September.
\n
This position would suit a confident Maths specialist who enjoys variety, can build rapport quickly with pupils, and is comfortable teaching across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons, managing classroom behaviour, and supporting pupils to make progress in their mathematical understanding. Supply work may include day-to-day cover, short-term assignments, or longer-term placements depending on school requirements.

Key Duties
\n
\n - Deliver Maths lessons across secondary year groups, primarily Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
\n * Follow existing lesson plans or confidently adapt resources where required
\n * Create a positive and purposeful learning environment
\n * Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
\n * Support pupils of varying abilities to engage with mathematical concepts
\n * Provide clear explanations, guidance, and feedback during lessons
\n * Encourage confidence, participation, and problem-solving skills
\n * Maintain professional standards and follow school safeguarding procedures
\n * Communicate any relevant pupil progress, behaviour, or safeguarding concerns to school staff
\n * Adapt quickly to different secondary school settings across Tewkesbury \n
\n
Skills & Personal Qualities
\n
\n - Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics
\n * Confident teaching pupils in a secondary school environment
\n * Calm, professional, and resilient classroom presence
\n * Able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff quickly
\n * Flexible and adaptable when working in different schools or departments
\n * Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to teaching
\n * Positive approach to behaviour management and pupil engagement
\n * Organised, reliable, and able to follow school guidance and safeguarding procedures
\n * Able to deliver lessons effectively while using initiative when needed \n
\n
Experience & Requirements
\n
\n - Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or relevant teaching experience
\n * Experience teaching Maths in a secondary school setting
\n * Confidence delivering lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
\n * Strong understanding of safeguarding, behaviour expectations, and professional boundaries
\n * Ability to manage a classroom independently and maintain high expectations
\n * Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one
\n * Right to work in the UK
\n * Willingness to complete required registration, compliance, and safeguarding checks
