Learning Support Assistant – PEG Feeding Trained

\n

Our education recruitment agency is currently seeking a compassionate, dedicated and experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA) with PEG feeding training to join a welcoming and highly supportive Special Educational Needs Academy located in the south of the Royal Borough of Kingston.

\n

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity starting in September 2026, continuing through to July 2027, with the potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate.

\n

Working closely with teaching staff and therapists, you will play a vital role in supporting students with a range of additional learning needs, ensuring they are safe, engaged and able to achieve their full potential both academically and personally.

\n

The Role

\n

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

\n
    \n
  • Provide individual and small group support to students throughout the school day.
  • \n
  • Support pupils with moderate learning difficulties and a range of additional needs.
  • \n
  • Safely administer PEG feeding in accordance with the student's care plan and school procedures.
  • \n
  • Assist students with personal care where required.
  • \n
  • Encourage independence, confidence and positive social interactions.
  • \n
  • Support students' emotional wellbeing and behaviour using positive strategies.
  • \n
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and the wider pastoral team.
  • \n
  • Help create an inclusive, nurturing and engaging learning environment.
  • \n
\n

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

\n
    \n
  • Has previous experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
  • \n
  • Is PEG feeding trained (essential).
  • \n
  • Has a calm, patient and caring approach.
  • \n
  • Can build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • \n
  • Is reliable, proactive and committed to supporting young people to achieve their potential.
  • \n
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • \n
\n

About the School

\n

This specialist academy provides an outstanding education for young people aged 9-19 years with moderate learning difficulties. Every student has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), ensuring that their individual educational, social and emotional needs are fully supported.

\n

Many students also have additional needs, including:

\n
    \n
  • Mild to moderate Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)
  • \n
  • Speech, language and communication needs
  • \n
  • Emotional and mental health needs
  • \n
  • Sensory impairments
  • \n
  • Medical needs
  • \n
\n

Most students join the school from mainstream primary settings where they previously received full-time 1:1 adult support. Thanks to the school's small class sizes of 8-10 students, excellent staffing ratios and specialist approach, students are supported within a highly inclusive and collaborative learning environment.

\n

Students in Key Stage 3 (Years 7-9) learn within mixed ability tutor groups for most subjects, while English and Maths are taught in ability-based sets to maximise progress.

\n

At Key Stage 4 (Years 10-11), students follow a broad and engaging curriculum with a wide range of subject options alongside the core curriculum. All courses lead to recognised qualifications and accredited outcomes.

\n

The school places a strong emphasis on preparing students for adulthood and independent living through:

\n
    \n
  • Life skills programmes
  • \n
  • Travel training
  • \n
  • Work experience opportunities
  • \n
  • Residential trips in Years 8, 10 and Post-16
  • \n
  • After-school clubs and enrichment activities
  • \n
\n

The specialist Post-16 provision supports students who require additional time to develop the confidence and independence needed before progressing into further education. The curriculum focuses on functional life skills, employability and preparing students for adult life.

\n

Student wellbeing is at the heart of everything the school does. A dedicated Wellbeing and Emotional Support Team provides targeted interventions including:

\n
    \n
  • Individual counselling
  • \n
  • Play Therapy
  • \n
  • Dramatherapy
  • \n
\n

This is a genuinely rewarding environment where every member of staff plays an important role in helping young people develop academically, socially and emotionally.

\n

What We Offer

\n
    \n
  • Competitive daily pay of £92.60 - £105.00 per day
  • \n
  • Full-time hours (8:30am - 4:00pm)
  • \n
  • Long-term placement from September 2026 until July 2027
  • \n
  • Opportunity to secure a permanent role
  • \n
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated education recruitment consultant
  • \n
  • A rewarding opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs
  • \n
\n

If you are an experienced Learning Support Assistant with PEG feeding training and are looking for a rewarding full-time role within a supportive and outstanding specialist school, we would love to hear from you.

\n

Apply today to be considered for this fantastic opportunity starting in September 2026.
