Job description
As a Mobile Contact Lens Optician you will work across different stores within a defined geographical area to support our stores with cover when people are out of the business. A

About the role

As a Contact Lens Opticians you will lead and inspire the opticians team to deliver excellent patient-centred care and ensure our customers and patients are supported to feel good in their contact lenses.

Reporting to a Store Manager / Hub Manager you will support the safe running of the opticians business being an expert in the technical aspects of the products you recommend as well as in the sale and supply of contact lenses and optical appliances around the will also:
  • Be an expert in the Boots Opticians contact lens product portfolio
  • Be the go-to person for knowledge about complete care solutions services and offers and you will use this information to create life-long patients and customers through appropriate recommendation
  • Supervise the development education and training of colleagues and supports and mentors students
  • Seek opportunities to engage with local commissioners and external healthcare professionals.
  • Support the Divisional Contact Lens Lead in growing the business helping stores identify new opportunities for customers to wear contact lenses and support confidence with store teams and clinicians in driving contact lens trials.
  • Work in partnership with the local management team to deliver both contact lens and ophthalmology led services
  • Be proud ambassador with a desire for Boots to be the first choice for patients for their contact lens needs
  • Travel to different stores within the area

What youll need to have

These are the essential skills or experience needed to succeed in this role.
  • Registered with the General Optical Council (GOC)
  • Optical Expertise
  • Passion to improve customer care and ensure high clinical standards
  • Motivated to own your learning and development completing all educational training CET as part of the GOC requirement
  • Strong relationships within the opticians world and respected by peers customers and external local professionals
  • Digitally savvy and comfortable with navigating and embracing new technology
  • Willingness and ability to travel

Services delivered in store: This growing Boots Opticians store serves a loyal and established patient base within an affluent catchment area. The store is currently ranked as the 3rd best in the region for contact lens sign-ups making it an excellent opportunity for a Contact Lens Optician looking to develop and utilise their expertise. The practice also benefits from OCT technology supporting a strong clinical offering and high standard of patient care.

Team structure: You will be joining a highly experienced and supportive team including a Resident Optometrist who has been with the store for 11 years alongside a Mobile Dispensing Optician Team Leader Assistant Store Manager and fully trained optical colleagues. The team is known for its collaborative culture strong patient relationships and commitment to delivering exceptional care.

The ideal working pattern would be Wednesday Thursday and Sunday although Saturday working can also be considered. The store serves a diverse patient demographic and continues to grow its contact lens customer base providing excellent opportunities to build long-term patient relationships and further develop your clinical skills.

Located in the desirable town of Billericay the store benefits from excellent transport links with nearby parking available and easy access via rail services into London and the surrounding Essex area. Combining a thriving high street excellent local amenities and a strong community feel Billericay offers an attractive location for those looking to develop their career within a successful and supportive practice.
