Teaching Personnel is recruiting an experienced Key Stage 1 SEN Teacher for a full-time position within a specialist educational setting in Yeovil, starting in September 2026.

This opportunity is ideal for a teacher who thrives in a nurturing environment and has a proven track record of supporting children with a wide range of additional needs.

The successful candidate will be confident from day one, bringing strong classroom practice, excellent behaviour management and the ability to deliver creative, highly personalised learning experiences.

About the Role

You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons for Key Stage 1 pupils with Special Educational Needs, adapting the curriculum to meet individual learning needs while creating a positive, structured classroom environment.

  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons.
  • Supporting pupils with a range of SEND, including autism, communication needs and learning difficulties.
  • Developing personalised learning strategies to maximise progress.
  • Working closely with teaching assistants to deliver high-quality provision.
  • Monitoring progress and maintaining accurate pupil records.
  • Contributing to EHCP targets and annual reviews where appropriate.
  • Building positive relationships with families and external professionals.
  • Promoting emotional wellbeing alongside academic achievement.
  • Creating a safe, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment.

We're Looking For

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Have recent experience teaching within SEND or specialist education.
  • Are confident teaching Key Stage 1 pupils with additional needs.
  • Can quickly establish routines and positive relationships.
  • Have excellent classroom management skills.
  • Are committed to safeguarding and inclusive education.
  • Are ready to hit the ground running from September 2026.

Experience supporting pupils with EHCPs, autism, speech and language needs, SEMH or complex learning needs would be highly advantageous.
