Job description
IT Technician – Secondary School – Woking Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale A progressive secondary school in Woking is looking to appoint a skilled and enthusiastic IT Technician to support the school's growing technology infrastructure. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with strong technical knowledge who enjoys solving problems, supporting users and ensuring digital systems operate efficiently across a busy educational environment. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching and support staff to provide first-class technical support while helping to maintain the school's hardware, software and network infrastructure. You will play an important role in ensuring technology continues to enhance teaching, learning and the day-to-day operation of the school. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with previous IT support experience who is looking to develop their career within a collaborative and forward-thinking school community. IT Support Team The IT Support Team provides technical assistance across the entire school, ensuring systems remain reliable, secure and accessible. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you will help maintain the school's technology infrastructure while providing responsive support to staff and students. Your responsibilities will include: Providing first-line technical support to staff and students. Installing, configuring and maintaining desktop computers, laptops and tablets. Supporting classroom technology, interactive displays and audiovisual equipment. Assisting with user account creation and password management. Troubleshooting hardware, software and network issues. Maintaining printers, photocopiers and peripheral devices. Supporting the school's management information systems and digital learning platforms. Assisting with software installations and system updates. Monitoring IT equipment and maintaining accurate asset records. Preparing devices for new starters and classroom deployment. Escalating complex technical issues where appropriate. Supporting the delivery of school events requiring IT equipment. The school is looking for someone who is approachable, customer-focused and committed to providing an efficient and reliable IT support service. Requirements Previous experience in an IT support or technician role. Good knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365. Understanding of basic networking principles. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to prioritise competing requests effectively. Good organisational skills and attention to detail. Willingness to learn new technologies and systems. Commitment to safeguarding and supporting the wider school community.
