Job description
Position: Site Manager Location: Oxford Contract: Full-Time, Permanent Start Date: Immediate Start Available Site Manager Role in a Free School A successful Free School in Oxford is seeking to appoint a reliable and proactive Site Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of its premises and ensure the school provides a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors. Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining the school's buildings, grounds, and compliance standards while supporting the smooth operation of the site. About the Role The successful candidate will take responsibility for the daily operation and maintenance of the school site, ensuring that buildings, classrooms, and outdoor spaces remain safe, clean, and fully operational. You will oversee planned preventative maintenance, coordinate reactive repairs, supervise contractors, and monitor statutory compliance across the estate. The role also includes managing site security, supporting health and safety procedures, preparing facilities for school events, and assisting with ongoing improvement projects. This is a varied, hands-on position that requires strong organisational skills, practical problem-solving abilities, and the flexibility to respond to the changing needs of a busy school environment. Key Responsibilities Oversee the day-to-day management and maintenance of the school site Coordinate planned preventative and reactive maintenance Ensure compliance with health and safety, fire safety, and statutory regulations Manage contractors, suppliers, and maintenance service providers Monitor site security, access control, and emergency procedures Maintain compliance records and support statutory inspections Assist with refurbishment and capital improvement projects Ensure the school site remains safe, secure, clean, and well presented The School Environment This Free School in Oxford offers a modern and inclusive learning environment where innovation, collaboration, and high expectations are central to school life. Candidate Requirements Essential Requirements Previous experience in site, premises, facilities, or estates management Good understanding of health and safety legislation and statutory compliance Experience coordinating maintenance programmes and contractors Strong organisational, communication, and practical problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and prioritise workloads effectively Desirable Experience working within a school or educational setting IOSH or NEBOSH Health & Safety qualification Knowledge of building maintenance systems and compliance requirements Experience supporting capital projects and site improvements How to Apply If you are interested in this Site Manager role at a Free School in Oxford, please submit your CV as soon as possible.
