Job description

Teacher of English (Language & Literature)
Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne
Start Date: September 2026 (flexible start available for suitable candidates)
Salary: MPS/UPS (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time

The Opportunity
Teaching Personnel Newcastle is recruiting on behalf of a well-regarded secondary school seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of English to join their team. This role presents an excellent chance to become part of a school that prioritises high-quality teaching, strong pastoral support, and academic achievement.

You will be responsible for delivering both English Language and English Literature across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students develop essential literacy skills while encouraging a deeper understanding and appreciation of texts.

Your Role Will Include

  • Delivering engaging and structured English lessons that challenge and motivate learners
  • Supporting students in developing analytical, writing, and comprehension skills
  • Tracking student performance and implementing strategies to support progress
  • Creating a positive and respectful learning environment
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues within the English department
  • Contributing to extracurricular activities such as reading clubs or revision sessions

We Are Looking For

  • A qualified teacher with QTS (or equivalent)
  • A strong academic background in English or a related discipline
  • The ability to engage and inspire students of varying abilities
  • Effective behaviour management skills
  • A proactive and reflective approach to teaching
  • Commitment to continuous professional development
