Groundsman / Gardener - Surrey - £30,000 - £32,000 + Overtime
The Job:
An opportunity has arisen for a Groundsman / Gardener to join a well established private organisation based on a beautiful rural estate in Surrey. Working as part of the Facilities team, you will play a key role in maintaining a 17 acre estate to an exceptional standard throughout the year. This is a varied, hands on position suited to someone with a passion for horticulture, grounds maintenance and estate care.
Key responsibilities:
- Maintain lawns using ride-on and pedestrian mowers, strimmers, scarifiers and edging equipment
- Carry out general gardening duties including planting, watering, weeding, pruning, and maintaining borders, shrubs, hedges and fruit trees
- Maintain seasonal planting displays, hanging baskets and containers
- Apply fertilisers, herbicides, and pesticides safely and in line with current legislation
- Maintain pathways, access routes, and external areas, including leaf clearance and winter gritting
- Assist with the upkeep of greenhouses, ponds, and other landscaped features
- Carry out routine maintenance and basic repairs to grounds machinery and equipment
- Report repairs, defects, and health and safety concerns
- Support wider estate duties, including event preparation, site maintenance and maintaining fencing and external infrastructure
- Maintain accurate health and safety and COSHH records

Our client is a well established private organisation set within a picturesque rural estate in Surrey. With extensive landscaped grounds and high quality facilities, they are committed to maintaining an outstanding environment through professional estate management and a collaborative team culture.
The Candidate:
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, horticulture, estate maintenance or commercial landscaping
- Good knowledge of plants, horticultural practices, and the safe operation of grounds maintenance machinery
- Practical approach with excellent attention to detail and a strong work ethic
- Able to work independently as well as part of a team, with good organisational and time management skills
- Good understanding of Health & Safety and COSHH procedures, with experience maintaining safe working practices
- Full UK driving licence; experience working within schools, estates, parks, sports grounds, or similar environments would be advantageous
The Package
- Salary of £30,000 - £32,000 per annum DOE
- Full time permanent position, 40 hours per week
- Paid overtime available during busy periods

Candidate Requirements
All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for. Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
