Pastoral Manager – Secondary School – Stoke-on-Trent Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale A welcoming secondary school in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking an experienced and compassionate Pastoral Manager to join its dedicated pastoral team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people, building positive relationships and helping students overcome barriers to learning. Working closely with Heads of Year, senior leaders, safeguarding staff and families, you will play a key role in promoting student wellbeing, behaviour, attendance and personal development. The successful candidate will become a trusted point of contact for students, providing guidance, encouragement and practical support while ensuring every young person has the opportunity to succeed. This varied role would suit someone who enjoys working directly with students, thrives in a busy environment and is committed to creating a positive and inclusive school culture. School Information This is an 11 to 18 secondary school that prides itself on providing a caring, inclusive and ambitious learning environment where every student is encouraged to reach their full potential. Pastoral Team The pastoral team is central to the school's commitment to student wellbeing. Working alongside teaching and safeguarding staff, the team provides early intervention, guidance and ongoing support to ensure every student can access learning and thrive within the school community. As Pastoral Manager, your responsibilities will include: Supporting the wellbeing and personal development of students. Working closely with Heads of Year to promote positive behaviour. Meeting with students to provide mentoring and pastoral guidance. Building positive relationships with parents and carers. Supporting attendance and punctuality initiatives. Assisting with behaviour management and restorative conversations. Liaising with safeguarding staff and external agencies where appropriate. Monitoring student progress and identifying those requiring additional support. Supporting transition arrangements for new students. Maintaining accurate pastoral records and documentation. Contributing to student intervention programmes. Promoting the school's values and expectations throughout the school community. The successful candidate will become part of a highly supportive pastoral team that is committed to ensuring every student feels safe, valued and able to achieve their best. Requirements Previous experience in a pastoral, behaviour or student support role is desirable. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build positive relationships with young people. Calm, resilient and professional approach. Strong organisational and record-keeping skills. Ability to manage sensitive situations with discretion. Good IT skills. Commitment to safeguarding and inclusion. Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families and external agencies.
