Whether you have previous experience supporting pupils with SEN or are looking to build a career in specialist education, we welcome applications from individuals who are patient, caring, and passionate about making a difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Speech and Language Needs, and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Support teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Assist in implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and personalised learning strategies.
  • Encourage pupils' confidence, independence, and participation in classroom activities.
  • Promote positive behaviour and help create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, parents, and external professionals to support pupil development.
  • Follow all safeguarding, behaviour management, and school policies.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs is desirable but not essential.
  • A caring, patient, and adaptable approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to support pupils with a variety of learning and behavioural needs.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
  • Right to work in the UK.

What We Offer

  • Competitive rates of pay.
  • Flexible working opportunities to suit your availability.
  • Opportunities to work in a range of mainstream and specialist schools across Chesterfield.
  • Ongoing CPD and SEN-focused training.
  • Dedicated consultant support throughout your placement.
  • Opportunities for day-to-day, long-term, and permanent roles.

If you are passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and want to make a real difference in their education and wellbeing, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today to join our team of SEN Teaching Assistants working in schools across Chesterfield.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.
