This is a fantastic opportunity to take on meaningful, varied work across a wide range of projects, helping to support safer buildings and assist clients in navigating complex fire safety and compliance challenges with confidence and clarity.

Whether you're producing fire strategies, supporting Building Safety Act compliance, or providing technical advice throughout the design process, you'll play a key role in improving building safety while contributing to the continued growth and success of Karntek.

About Karntek

At Karntek, we're a dedicated team of Fire and Building Safety specialists with specific expertise in high-risk buildings. We work with clients across a wide range of sectors, delivering practical, compliant fire safety solutions while helping them navigate an ever-changing regulatory landscape.

Our mission is to be leaders in fire safety auditing, known for our integrity, quality and accuracy, and the partner of choice in fire safety compliance. This ambition underpins everything we do, from the advice we provide to the relationships we build with our clients and colleagues.

As our business continues to grow, we're looking for talented professionals who share our commitment to technical excellence, accuracy, and doing the right thing. In return, we offer a supportive environment where you can develop your career, work on varied and challenging projects, and make a real impact on building safety.

The Role

As a Fire Engineer, you'll be responsible for:

  • Producing and reviewing fire strategies for a wide range of building types and occupancies.
  • Conducting and documenting comprehensive fire risk assessments in accordance with relevant legislation and guidance under the BAFE SP205 scheme.
  • Supporting the development and review of Building Safety Cases and associated documentation.
  • Liaising with fire risk assessors to resolve validation issues and provide technical guidance relating to the BAFE SP205 scheme.
  • Providing expert fire engineering and fire safety advice to clients, project teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Keeping up to date with UK fire safety legislation, British Standards, Approved Documents, and industry best practice.
  • Working collaboratively with architects, design teams, contractors, and building managers to develop practical, compliant, and cost-effective fire safety solutions.
  • Participating in internal training, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing initiatives to support continuous improvement across the business.

Requirements

You'll ideally have:

  • A Fire Engineering degree or a relevant qualification in Fire Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of UK fire safety legislation, Approved Document B, British Standards, and associated guidance.
  • Experience producing fire strategies and undertaking fire engineering assessments.
  • Experience carrying out fire risk assessments under the BAFE SP205 scheme is desirable.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • A willingness to travel to client sites across the UK, including occasional overnight stays where required.

Benefits

We believe in rewarding our people and supporting them to thrive, both professionally and personally. As part of Karntek, you'll benefit from:

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience.
  • Company car or van.
  • Discretionary bonus scheme.
  • Pension scheme.
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Career development and progression opportunities within a growing and ambitious company.
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for wellbeing and support.
  • Employee recognition scheme, including Employee of the Month awards.
  • Discounted shopping portal with retail savings.
  • A supportive and collaborative team culture.

Ready to Take the Next Step?

If you're looking to further your career with a forward-thinking company where your expertise is valued, your development is supported, and you'll have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, we'd love to hear from you.
