Assistant Accountant - Motor Trade

£30,000 - £35,000 Basic | Hybrid Working | Monday to Friday

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Assistant Accountant to join a successful and growing automotive retail group.

\n

Working closely alongside the Multi-Site Dealership Accountant, you'll play a key role in supporting the finance function across several dealership locations. The Role

\n

Supporting the Multi-Site Dealership Accountant, you'll assist with the production of accurate financial information while working closely with operational managers to help drive business performance.

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts.
\n
• Prepare and post journals, including accruals and prepayments.
\n
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate any variances.
\n
• Support the month-end and year-end close process.
\n
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting across multiple dealership sites.
\n
• Analyse financial performance and produce meaningful reports and commentary.
\n
• Work alongside the Multi-Site Dealership Accountant to provide financial insight and support commercial decision-making.
\n
• Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders including General Managers, General Sales Managers, Aftersales Managers and departmental leaders.
\n
• Help monitor departmental performance, identifying trends and opportunities to improve profitability.
\n
• Support continuous improvements to financial reporting, controls and processes.
\n
• Assist with ad-hoc financial analysis and projects as required.
\n

About You

\n

You'll already have experience within a franchised motor trade accounts environment and be looking to develop your career within management accounting and commercial finance.

\n

You'll ideally have:

\n

\n
• Previous experience as an Assistant Accountant or similar finance role within a franchised dealership or dealer group.
\n
• Experience preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
\n
• Exposure to management accounts, budgeting and forecasting.
\n
• Strong working knowledge of Kerridge/CDK Drive or Pinnacle dealer management systems.
\n
• Excellent Microsoft Excel skills and strong analytical ability.
\n
• The confidence to communicate with and support operational stakeholders across the business.
\n
• A proactive attitude with excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
\n
• AAT qualified, studying towards ACCA/CIMA, or qualified by experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
\n
