Job description
About the role

At Balfour Beatty, we're delivering some of the UK's most complex and critical infrastructure projects. We're looking for an experienced Senior Construction Manager to join our team in Hereford, playing a pivotal role in the successful delivery of our KL Project.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead construction delivery on a high-profile project, working alongside a talented team committed to excellence, safety, and innovation.

As Senior Construction Manager, you'll provide strategic leadership across the construction phase, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You'll manage multidisciplinary teams, coordinate subcontractors, and maintain strong relationships with our client and key stakeholders.

What you'll be doing

As a Senior Construction Manager you will:
  • Lead and manage all on-site construction activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Drive an uncompromising safety culture, ensuring compliance with all health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Deliver programme milestones while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
  • Manage subcontractor performance, productivity and commercial awareness.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with clients, designers and project stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
  • Mentor and develop construction teams, promoting continuous improvement and high performance.
  • Ensure all works are delivered in line with Balfour Beatty's operational excellence standards.
Who we're looking for

You will have the following:
  • Significant experience managing major construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent knowledge of construction methodologies, planning and project delivery.
  • A collaborative approach with outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A strong commitment to health, safety and wellbeing.
  • Relevant construction qualifications and professional memberships (or working towards them) are desirable.
Why work for us

Day in, day out, our teams deliver some of the UK's most ambitious, exciting and meaningful projects; developing, building and maintaining the vital infrastructure that supports national economies and strengthens communities.

Why join us?

As if contributing to and supporting work that makes life better for millions wasn't rewarding enough, we offer a full range of benefits too. You'll have the freedom to shape the package that's right for you and your life. Here are some of our key benefits:

- Smart working, giving you more flexibility such as staggered start and finish times, with up to 40% remote working, where roles allow.
- 25 days paid annual leave (pro rata)
- Family friendly policies which include 28 weeks full pay for maternity/adoption leave and four weeks full pay for paternity/partners leave
- Pension, share incentive plan, volunteering leave, recognition schemes and much more...
