SEND Teaching Assistant - Full Time
Nailsea, Bristol

Monarch Education are working with a special needs school in Nailsea to recruit a full-time SEND Teaching Assistant. This role is heavily focused on supporting pupils with complex and additional needs, and requires someone who is committed to working consistently, full time in a specialist setting.

\n

This is not a mainstream classroom role. The school supports pupils with a range of needs including Autism (ASC), complex learning needs, SEMH, communication needs, and physical needs. Staff are expected to provide hands-on, structured, and consistent support throughout the school day.

  • Full-time availability (Monday to Friday)
  • \n
  • Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs, or relevant transferable experience (e.g. residential care, support work, youth work, or care settings)
  • \n
  • A clear understanding of working with individuals who may have complex needs and behaviours
  • \n

The role:\n

    \n
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with special educational needs
  • \n
  • Support pupils with Autism, SEMH, communication difficulties, and complex needs
  • \n
  • Assist with personal care and daily routines where required
  • \n
  • Support behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning
  • \n
  • Use structured approaches, including routines, visual supports, and sensory strategies
  • \n
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists, and the wider support team
  • \n
  • Help create a safe, consistent, and supportive learning environment
  • \n

  • Understanding of working with individuals with additional or complex needs

  • Calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • \n
  • Able to build trusting and consistent relationships
  • \n
  • Willingness to be hands-on and adaptable throughout the day
  • \n
  • Reliable and committed to full-time work in a specialist setting
  • \n
