Employment Type: Full-time

While your primary workplace will be our Stokesley office, there may be opportunities to travel internationally to customer sites.

At Labman, we design and build world-class robotic and laboratory automation systems that are used by some of the most innovative organisations around the globe.

As our C# Software Engineer – Upgrades Lead, you'll join the Service & Support Team, taking ownership of software upgrades that enhance and extend the capabilities of existing Labman systems. You'll play a key role in helping our customers maximise the value of their automation platforms by introducing new features, improving performance, and delivering long-term software solutions.

This is an opportunity to combine hands-on software development with technical leadership, collaborating closely with teams across the business to deliver high-quality, customer-focused solutions.

What You'll Be Doing

As the lead engineer for software upgrades, you'll:

  • Design and develop software upgrades for existing Labman systems.
  • Write high-quality code using Microsoft C# .NET and object-oriented programming principles.
  • Work closely with software engineers across the business to ensure upgrades align with coding standards and development best practices.
  • Support, maintain, and improve existing software applications.
  • Introduce new functionality based on customer requirements and feedback.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of software development processes.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Produce clear and effective technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to understand system functionality and workflows.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, takes ownership of their work, and is passionate about delivering robust software solutions.

You'll ideally have:

  • Minimum 3 years' commercial experience developing in C# .NET
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles
  • Experience developing Windows desktop applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience producing technical documentation
  • The ability to understand and visualise complex mechatronic system workflows from videos, images, and technical documentation
  • A collaborative approach and desire to work closely with engineering teams and customers

Why Join Labman?

At Labman, you'll be surrounded by talented engineers, scientists, designers, and innovators who are passionate about solving real-world problems through automation.

We offer:

  • Company Benefits
  • 33 days holiday (rising to 38)
  • Company profit share scheme
  • 5% employer pension
  • Private healthcare (Aviva)
  • Travel opportunities
  • Enhanced parental leave
  • CPD support
  • Free gym, climbing wall, VR racing, sports and social clubs
