Yorks Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services are seeking to recruit a CAMHS Clinician to join us either full‑time or part‑time. The team is in a position to help staff develop the knowledge and experience within CAMHS and offer additional training as appropriate to the role but are keen to recruit an individual who has experience to bring along. Please note this post requires candidates to have a professional registration as a Child, Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist. Nursing candidates must have 18 months post‑qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework at the time of applying. This role may be eligible for sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route. However, sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements, therefore, we recommend that you assess your eligibility before applying. Main duties of the job The successful candidate will join a large multi‑disciplinary team in providing assessment and intervention to families here in York. You will become a Key Worker in co‑ordinating care, ensuring that safe and effective care is provided, whilst providing evidence‑based interventions. Qualifications in CBT, SFP and DBT are desirable for this role but we are in a position to provide training and supervision to develop these skills. Job responsibilities The role can be demanding but also highly rewarding so you will need to be someone who is motivated, resilient and passionate about working with this client group – an experienced CAMHS clinician who is able to manage their own caseload, with an emphasis on doing brief therapy as well as longer‑term specialist interventions. Person Specification Qualification * Current professional registration with appropriate body in healthcare or social work. * Evidence of Continuing Professional Development. * Depending on work area, recognised sign‑off mentor (or equivalent) or must be achieved within agreed timescale. * Key skills in literacy, numeracy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent). * Post‑graduate qualification in a relevant area (within agreed timescale). * 18 months post‑qualifying experience including sign off of appropriate preceptorship or competency framework (at the point of application). * Certificate in teaching & assessing in clinical practice as appropriate to own profession. * CAMHS Degree. * Recognised qualification in a specific model of therapy e.g. family therapy, CBT etc. * Recognised training in Facilitation of Parenting Groups. Experience * Working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers. * Providing clinical supervision. * Working in a multi‑disciplinary team. * Quality improvement activities. * Significant experience working with children and young people with mental ill health in a community setting. * Leadership or management experience. * Mentoring students on practice placement experience. Knowledge * Demonstrable knowledge to post‑graduate level of evidence‑based practice in caring for children and young people in the designated field. * Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act). * Care Programme Approach and its application in practice. * Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice. * Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice. * Clinical Governance and its application in practice. * Research and development methodology, understanding of psychological models of care and treatment. * Understanding of psychological models of care and treatment. * The Trusts Quality Improvement System (QIS). Skills * Provide leadership and monitor, coordinate and prioritise the activities of a team. * Communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to children and young people, carers/families and all members of the multidisciplinary team. * Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and undertake lead professional / care co‑ordinator responsibilities. * Provide effective clinical supervision, teaching, training and assessing in clinical practice. * Write reports. * Use multimedia materials for presentations in professional settings. * Use approved breakaway techniques.
