Are you passionate about Health & Social Care and keen to inspire young people through practical, meaningful learning? A welcoming secondary school in Sheffield is looking for a dedicated Health & Social Care with Childhood Development Teacher to join their team.

About the Role:

As a Health & Social Care with Childhood Development Teacher, you will deliver engaging lessons that help pupils understand health, wellbeing, care and child development. You will support learners in developing their knowledge of key concepts while preparing them for assessments and helping them connect classroom learning to real-world careers within health, care and education.

About the School:

This inclusive secondary school is committed to providing a supportive learning environment where pupils are encouraged to achieve their best. Staff work collaboratively to maintain high expectations, positive behaviour and strong pastoral care, creating a welcoming and rewarding place to teach.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Health & Social Care and Childhood Development lessons.

  • Teach relevant content across appropriate Key Stage 4 programmes.

  • Assess, monitor and record pupil progress.

  • Prepare pupils for coursework, assessments and examinations where appropriate.

  • Adapt teaching to meet different learning needs and abilities.

  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.

  • Encourage pupils to connect subject knowledge with real-world health, care and education settings.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support pupil progress.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • Experience teaching Health & Social Care, Child Development or a closely related subject within a secondary school setting.

  • Strong subject knowledge and understanding of relevant curriculum content.

  • Effective classroom and behaviour management skills.

  • Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills.

  • A genuine passion for helping young people develop knowledge and skills for future study and careers.

  • An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.

If you're ready to inspire young people and are interested in this opportunity, submit your CV today.

To work with GSL Education as a Health & Social Care with Childhood Development Teacher, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.

We also offer, via our partner, access to accredited Education-relevant CPD courses.
