Job description

Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale The Role A thriving Secondary Academy in Gloucester is seeking a professional, empathetic, and exceptionally organised Health & Social Care Teacher to join their growing vocational department. This is a premier opportunity to step into a faculty experiencing significant popularity, where vocational excellence and healthcare literacy are highly valued as core pillars of the school's advanced post-16 pathways. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day instructional support across Key Stages 4 and 5, splitting focus between human lifespan development and health care values at Level 2, alongside advanced anatomy, physiology, and safeguarding frameworks at Level 3 BTEC / A-Level. Key responsibilities include maintaining precise student portfolio records, constructing multi-tier internal verification tracking files, managing workplace placement correspondence, and coordinating student visits to local health services and clinical settings. You will support seamless communication with parents, regional healthcare partners, and external moderation boards, ensuring all coursework portfolios, witness statements, and exam entries are handled securely and professionally. Exceptional time-management skills are necessary, as this role requires managing distinct specification plans and evidence tracking channels within a busy secondary academy environment. The academy welcomes applications from professionals who can seamlessly translate healthcare sector dynamics into structured, impactful academic plans. School Information This is a thriving, well-established 11 to 18 Secondary Academy in Gloucester with an exceptional reputation for broad curriculum access, academic innovation, and pupil welfare. The school serves an ambitious regional community and operates with a welcoming, supportive professional ethos. Pupils are respectful, empathetic, and highly engaged in their studies, taking genuine pride in their learning environment and creating a calm, professional atmosphere across the study hubs. Staff are highly supported by a forward-thinking senior leadership team that prioritizes workload reduction, shared resources, and robust professional development paths. Requirements A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) with a relevant degree in Nursing, Social Work, Health & Social Care, or a related field Previous experience delivering Health & Social Care specifications up to Level 3 BTEC or equivalent Strong data literacy and IT skills, with complete confidence managing extensive coursework portfolios and verification logs Professional and proactive approach to tracking student metrics and executing internal moderation compliance Ability to work effectively and adaptably as part of a collaborative, busy academic team Application To apply, please send your comprehensive CV as soon as possible.
