Job description
Position: Design & Technology Teacher Location: Manchester Contract: Full-Time Start Date: September Key Stages: KS3–KS5 Design & Technology Teacher Role in an Outstanding Secondary School An Outstanding Secondary School in Manchester is seeking to appoint an ambitious and creative Design & Technology Teacher to join its highly successful Technology department from September. This is an exciting opportunity to teach in a school recognised for its exceptional academic standards, innovative curriculum, and unwavering commitment to developing the whole child. About the Role The successful candidate will teach Design & Technology across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering inspiring lessons that develop creativity, technical expertise, and practical problem-solving skills. Students follow a broad and ambitious curriculum that includes Product Design, Resistant Materials, engineering principles, design processes, sustainable design, and modern manufacturing techniques. You will guide students through every stage of the design cycle, from research and concept development to prototyping, manufacture, testing, and evaluation. You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through STEM initiatives, design competitions, employer partnerships, and extracurricular projects that enable students to apply their learning beyond the classroom. Key Responsibilities Teach Design & Technology across KS3, KS4, and KS5 Deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Design & Technology qualifications Develop students' creativity, technical understanding, and manufacturing skills Maintain outstanding health and safety standards within workshops Assess progress and provide high-quality feedback Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development Support STEM projects, design competitions, and enrichment activities The School Environment This Outstanding Secondary School has an excellent reputation for combining academic ambition with exceptional pastoral care.
