Job description

At Medivet Alfreton youll be part of a large supportive team of 15 vets an amazing head nurse 15 nurses and 5 receptionists all working together to provide the best care possible.

Many of our vets hold or are working towards certificates in dermatology dentistry surgery internal medicine emergency & critical care and ophthalmology. The practice is well-equipped with six consult rooms separate dog and cat wards three sterile theatres dedicated diagnostic suites dental facilities digital x-ray two staff rooms and more. Our hospital is committed to maintaining high standards and providing excellent care to both clients and patients.

We are offering a permanent full time contract with the option of a 4 or 5 day week including 1 in 8 full weekends. You will also be required to work Bank Holidays and to join our on-call rota.

Role Accountabilities:

Exceptional care is at the heart of everything we do at Medivet. Thats the care for our patients our clients and for each other we really want to make a positive difference through every interaction we have.
In this role you will:

  • Consistently deliver exceptional care to your clients.

  • Support with surgeries and procedures completing all pre and post procedure activity.

  • Carry out nurse led appointments and schedule 3 activities.

  • Deliver patient monitoring and care.

  • Manage admissions and discharges as directed by the Veterinary team.

  • Complete patient transfers to out of hours or enhanced care.

  • Dispense and check medication.

  • Deliver professional excellence complying with all regulatory practice and operational standards.

  • Hold briefings to engage and co-ordinate your team to support the most effective running of the practice.

Your Skills and Experience:

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse.

  • Experience of delivering exceptional patient and client care.

  • Experienced in working effectively as part of a team.

  • Experience of supporting Nurse consults with an understanding of how this contributes to practice performance and efficiency.

  • Experienced in using coaching and influencing skills to get the best out of every colleague.
