Job description

Full-time 9-5PM MONDAY - FRIDAY | Full Training Provided | In South London Office

River is entering an exciting new chapter.

With our move into a brand-new South London office, we're growing our sales team and looking for ambitious, confident individuals who are ready to build a career in sales through live events and face-to-face customer engagement.

At River, we specialise in face-to-face sales and customer acquisition, representing leading UK brands through high-footfall promotional events, pop-up campaigns, exhibitions and retail activations. We help our clients grow their customer base while giving our team the opportunity to develop valuable commercial skills in a supportive, fast-paced environment.

This is not a door-to-door role. All campaigns take place at organised event locations.

No previous sales experience is required. We provide full training from day one and promote based on performance, attitude and development.

The Role

As a Sales & Events Assistant, you'll be at the forefront of our live campaigns, speaking directly with customers, representing well-known brands and generating new customer acquisitions.

Your primary focus will be sales, building rapport with customers, identifying their needs, explaining products and services, and helping them sign up with confidence.

As you develop within the business, you'll also gain exposure to the operational side of events, including campaign planning, event logistics, team coordination and event set-up, providing a clear pathway into leadership and management.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Representing leading UK brands at promotional events and customer acquisition campaigns
  • Speaking confidently with members of the public and generating new customers
  • Delivering engaging product and campaign presentations
  • Building strong customer relationships and creating positive brand experiences
  • Achieving individual and team sales targets
  • Working alongside experienced sales professionals and mentors
  • Participating in daily sales coaching and ongoing development
  • Learning sales psychology, objection handling and customer communication techniques
  • Supporting event operations and campaign organisation as you progress
  • Assisting with event planning, logistics and set-up when moving into leadership responsibilities
  • Developing commercial skills across sales, marketing, client management and business operations
What We're Looking For

We're far more interested in mindset than previous experience.

You could be a great fit if you are:

  • Confident and enjoy speaking with new people
  • Motivated by targets and personal achievement
  • Competitive with a positive attitude
  • Resilient and eager to learn
  • Professional and reliable
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Looking for long-term career progression
  • Willing to take ownership of your development

Previous experience in sales, retail, hospitality, customer service, events, promotions or marketing is beneficial but not essential.

What River Offers
  • Base pay plus uncapped performance-based commission
  • Full sales training from day one
  • Daily coaching and one-to-one mentorship
  • Clear progression into Team Leader, Assistant Manager and Management positions
  • Leadership development programme
  • Experience across sales, customer acquisition, event marketing and campaign management
  • Opportunities to learn event planning, campaign coordination and operational management as you progress
  • Modern South London office
  • Supportive, ambitious team culture
  • Team incentives, recognition programmes and travel opportunities
Career Progression

At River, we promote from within.

Many of our managers began in this role before progressing into leadership positions where they now:

  • Lead and develop sales teams
  • Manage live event campaigns
  • Organise event logistics and set-up
  • Coordinate campaign performance
  • Recruit and train new team members
  • Build client relationships
  • Support business growth and expansion

Your progression is based on your performance, development and commitment—not simply how long you've been with the business.

Why Join River?

We're building more than a sales team—we're building future leaders.

If you're looking for a career where you'll develop confidence, communication skills, commercial awareness and leadership experience while earning through your performance, River offers genuine progression and continuous support.

You'll join an ambitious team that values professionalism, accountability, development and results.
