Job description

About Us

Townend House in Symington, Ayrshire is a residential rehab facility within Scotland accommodating up to 23 residents, offering high-quality facilities and focusing on a person-centred approach to support individuals on their recovery journey. This organisation is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults.

Our service offers a comprehensive group work programme that includes psychoeducation sessions, therapeutic groups, and opportunities to engage with 12-step fellowship. These are designed to help individuals build self-awareness, develop coping strategies, and establish strong, supportive recovery networks.

We believe in a holistic approach that focuses on empowerment, personal growth, and lasting recovery—supporting people to rebuild their lives with confidence, purpose, and connection.

The Role

As an Addiction Rehab Support Worker, you will play a key role in supporting individuals on their recovery journey. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll provide emotional, practical, and therapeutic support to residents helping them to develop coping skills, access community resources, and achieve personal goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support to individuals in recovery.
  • Assist in facilitating group work and psychoeducation sessions.
  • Encourage and support participation in 12-step fellowship meetings and community recovery activities.
  • Support residents with daily living skills, health, and wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, counsellors, and social workers.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records in line with organisational policies.
  • Contribute to creating a safe, supportive, and empowering environment.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is empathetic, resilient, and passionate about helping others make positive life changes.

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience supporting vulnerable adults or people affected by addiction, homelessness, or mental health issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • This is a night shift role covering weekdays and weekends. The occasional day shift may be required.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding principles.

Desirable:

  • Member of SSSC or willing to register.
  • SVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards it).
  • Knowledge of harm reduction, trauma-informed care, psychoeducation, and recovery models.
  • Familiarity with the 12-step approach or similar peer-support frameworks.

What We Offer

  • Comprehensive induction and ongoing training.
  • Career progression opportunities.
  • Employee assistance and wellbeing support.
  • Pension scheme and holiday entitlement.
  • A supportive, inclusive, and values-driven working environment.

Townend House is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from people with lived experience of addiction and recovery
