CMS2, specialists in advanced manufacturing and critical maritime systems, is seeking a Project Coordinator to work in the In Service Support (ISS) team to coordinate and support complex engineering projects.

This role is responsible for managing and delivering CMS2's customer spares and repair activities within the ISS team, ensuring the efficient procurement of parts, coordination of repair services, and successful fulfilment of customer requirements in line with agreed processes, quality standards, and contractual obligations.

The role reports directly to the ISS Technical Manager and will be required to offer additional support to the rest of the ISS team as and when requested by ISS Director. A key aspect of the role is to be able to successfully manage both Internal and external customers (both existing and potential) and being able to build a close rapport with key stakeholders to drive the In-Service projects through to successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of CMS2 spares and repairs projects, coordinating customer and supplier communications from initial enquiry through to delivery and post-delivery support, ensuring all orders meet contractual and quality requirements.
  • Respond to customer technical enquiries and support customer review meetings and related activities.
  • Process customer requests through internal systems, generating quotations and ensuring governance, customer expectations, and contractual obligations are met.
  • Coordinate the procurement of stock required for customer spares and repairs orders, working closely with the CMS2 Supply Chain and Stores teams.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for CMS2's MOD customer on all spares and repairs matters.
  • Produce reports and provide accurate management information to the ISS Technical Manager as required.
  • Support the implementation, maintenance, and effective operation of existing and future MRP systems, providing guidance and assistance to other ISS team members when needed.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to resolve technical issues and support procurement and supply chain activities.
General Responsibilities
  • Undertake additional duties as required to support the operational needs of the ISS Department and wider business.
  • Maintain and update spares project trackers, ensuring accurate and timely data entry.
  • Ensure customer price lists, stock records, and related documentation are maintained accurately and kept up to date.
  • Travel to and work from various company and customer sites as required, including occasional periods away from home.
  • Maintain continuous professional development to ensure technical knowledge, skills, and industry awareness remain current.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential
  • HNC, HND or degree qualified in an Engineering discipline, with proven technical experience and a sound understanding of project management principles and practices
  • Excellent organisation abilities to manage multiple strands of enquiry and drive multiple internal actions across a range of stakeholders
  • Proven experience in managing technical projects through the full lifecycle, including customer engagement, sales support, project initiation, delivery, and post-delivery customer service and support
  • Strong communication skills, confident speaker and professionally presented
  • Strong self-management and organisation skills, and attention to detail
  • Flexible and positive approach with an aptitude for detail
Desirable
  • Experience working in a Defence environment Experience of working as part of and leading teams of individuals within the workplace
  • An understanding of ISO 9001 quality management systems, with experience of working within a regulated environment and ensuring compliance with quality processes and procedures
  • Proficient user of Excel, Word and experience of using MRP and ERP systems
  • Experience and knowledge of import/export legislation and standard practices
Role travel requirements
Some travel to customer’s sites may occasionally be required.
Some travel to other Science Group offices in the UK may occasionally be required.

Other requirements
Candidates must have an existing right to live and work in the UK
Candidates must have passed UK security clearance to Security Check level or be able to obtain this level.
To gain SC clearance you will normally have had to have been a resident in the UK for a minimum of 5 years.
