Position: English Teacher Location: Northampton Contract: Full-Time Start Date: September Key Stages: KS3–KS5 English Teacher Role in an Outstanding Secondary School An Outstanding Secondary School in Northampton is seeking to appoint an inspiring and dedicated English Teacher to join its highly successful English department from September. About the Role The successful candidate will teach English Language and English Literature across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that develop students' literacy, analytical thinking, and appreciation of great literature. Students study a rich and diverse curriculum, exploring classic and contemporary texts, poetry, drama, fiction, and non-fiction from a wide range of authors and cultures. You will inspire students to become confident readers, thoughtful writers, and articulate communicators while preparing them for GCSE and A-Level examinations. The successful candidate will also contribute to curriculum development and wider enrichment opportunities, including creative writing clubs, theatre visits, debating competitions, public speaking events, and literacy initiatives across the school. Key Responsibilities Teach English Language and English Literature across KS3, KS4, and KS5 Deliver engaging and academically challenging lessons Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level examinations Develop students' reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills Assess progress and provide high-quality, constructive feedback Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development Support literacy initiatives and extracurricular activities Foster a lifelong appreciation of literature and language The School Environment This Outstanding Secondary School is widely recognised for its culture of academic excellence, strong pastoral support, and commitment to developing well-rounded young people.
