Legacy Consultant (level based on experience) Ready to take your career to the next level? We’re one of the UK’s most forward-thinking law firms, built on a foundation of innovation, collaboration, and ambition. Join us, and let’s shape the future together. The role in 60 seconds * Role: Legacy Consultant * Team: Legacy Income Management Team * Location: Exeter, Bristol, London, Manchester - hybrid working available with an expectation of office attendance once a month. * Working Pattern: Full-time/Part-time/Flexible Why this role matters: Join our growing Legacy Income Management team and help charities secure the income that powers their mission. We manage over £200M in legacy income for organisations of all sizes, offering flexible support during busy periods, complex estates, and unexpected spikes in workload. With access to specialist legal expertise across the firm, you’ll play a key role in ensuring clients receive accurate, efficient, and empathetic support. In this role, you’ll: * Deliver high-quality, tailored legacy administration support as part of the Legacy Income Management team, acting as a trusted partner to a diverse portfolio of charity clients. * Manage a varied caseload ensuring legacy income is secured efficiently while balancing legal obligations with empathy and sensitivity. The exact nature of the caseload will vary depending on experience and may include pecuniary, residuary, and complex or contentious cases. * Proactively progress estate matters, reducing delays and unlocking income for clients in a timely manner. * Build and maintain strong relationships with charity clients, representing them with professionalism, care, and a client‑centric approach. * Act as an extension of clients’ teams by providing bespoke, responsive support aligned to their individual needs and priorities. * Apply strong attention to detail and high-level numerary skills to monitor and reconcile income, resolve identity and estate account issues, review estate valuations, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. * Contribute to maximising the value of charitable gifts for our client through thorough case management and financial oversight. * Collaborate with our wider team including our contentious probate, charity probate, property, and governance specialists to deliver comprehensive support to clients. * Actively contribute to team knowledge‑sharing and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure our clients receive high quality support. What we’re looking for: We are looking for a motivated and client-focused individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can demonstrate: * Experience in using and maintaining databases, with strong organisational and data management skills. * Previous experience in legacy administration, or a genuine interest in developing within this area, with familiarity with systems such as First Class 4 (or similar case management platforms). * A basic understanding of Wills, Probate, and Trust law, or a clear willingness to build expertise in these areas. * Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external stakeholders. * Progression towards, or an interest in undertaking, an ILM Certificate in Charity Legacy Administration or similar professional qualification. * A sensitive and empathetic approach when dealing with bereaved families, donors, and other stakeholders connected to legacy gifts. * Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships, delivering a high standard of client care. * Experience of, or a desire to develop, operating within a modern digital environment, with the ability and motivation to adapt to a law firm setting, including its systems, processes, and expectations around client service. * A proactive and collaborative mindset, with a shared commitment to innovation and continuous improvement. What if I don’t tick every box? We’re not box tickers. We appreciate the need for everyone to find a role that challenges them and gives them room for growth. If you bring transferable skills and a fresh perspective, we’d love to hear from you. If this role excites you and you have the skills to succeed, we encourage you to apply. Join a seriously ambitious firm At Foot Anstey, we’re committed to making a difference for our people, our clients, and society. Here’s what makes us stand out: * An ambitious growth strategy that opens up opportunities for our people to make their mark. * A client base that spans household names, thriving startups, and ambitious enterprises. * A culture built on our values of being refreshingly human, entrepreneurial, inclusive and collaborative. * A strong focus on being a responsible business with a commitment to sustainability and giving back to our communities. * Comprehensive professional development and training – whatever your role and level we have training that will support you to achieve your goals. That’s why we offer a comprehensive benefits package designed to support your professional growth and personal wellbeing, including: * Competitive salary and performance‑linked bonus. * Employee sabbaticals. * Enhanced parental leave policies. * Private healthcare and wellbeing initiatives (e.g., mental health support, gym memberships). * For a full list of our competitive benefits package, please click here.
