Senior Software Engineer

Norwich Norfolk

Were looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the Operations Manager and working closely with the Project Delivery Team this role involves contributing to the commissioning of mechanical electrical and combined systems primarily within the water industry.

What youll be doing:

  • Designing installing and commissioning PLC/HMI systems (Keyence Schneider Electric Allen Bradley Siemens)
  • Programming using IEC 61131-3 languages including:
    • Ladder Diagram (LD)
    • Function Block Diagram (FBD)
    • Structured Text (ST)
    • Sequential Function Chart (SFC)
  • Producing automation documentation such as:
    • Functional Design Specifications
    • Software Design Specifications
    • Hardware Design Specifications
    • PLC hardware configurations and I/O schedules
    • Network architecture designs (e.g. Keyence Ethernet)
  • Carrying out PLC HMI and control panel FAT & SAT testing
  • Diagnosing and resolving PLC and low-voltage electrical faults
  • Modifying and installing control systems on existing PLC/HMI setups at operational sites
  • Providing guidance on electrical standards and control systems
  • Interpreting control panel electrical schematics
  • Working in a blended environment typically around 70% office/home-based and 30% on customer sites across the UK (with flexibility for 23 days of home working when project demands allow)
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of software development processes

About you:

  • An industry-relevant ONC City & Guilds NVQ or equivalent qualification
  • Experience working within the water and/or wastewater sectors ideally on SEMD frameworks
  • Health & Safety certifications (e.g. IOSH CITB 5 Day Site Safety Management) along with a CSCS card and First Aid training
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Blue Water Hygiene Card (or willingness to obtain)
