Job description
Attendance Officer - Mixed Secondary School - Northampton Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale Attendance Officer A thriving Mixed Secondary School in Northampton is seeking a dedicated Attendance Officer to join its pastoral support team on a full-time, permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual who understands the importance of attendance in supporting student achievement and wellbeing. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting excellent attendance and punctuality across the school. Responsibilities will include monitoring daily attendance, conducting first-day absence calls, maintaining accurate attendance records and analysing attendance data to identify trends and concerns. You will work closely with students, parents, pastoral leaders and external agencies to support improved attendance outcomes. The successful candidate will coordinate attendance meetings, prepare reports for senior leaders and contribute to intervention plans designed to remove barriers to learning. The role also involves supporting safeguarding procedures where attendance concerns may indicate wider welfare issues. Strong communication skills, excellent organisation and the ability to build positive relationships are essential for this role.
