Key Responsibilities • Plan, deliver and assess engaging English lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5 • Develop students’ understanding of literature, language, creative writing and communication skills • Use assessment effectively to monitor progress and inform future planning • Differentiate teaching to support and challenge learners of all abilities • Create a positive, ambitious and inclusive classroom environment • Encourage independent reading, creativity, resilience and academic confidence • Develop students’ analytical, critical thinking and written communication skills • Contribute to departmental planning, curriculum development and improvement initiatives • Support enrichment activities including reading programmes, competitions and wider school opportunities • Encourage students’ progression pathways including further education and careers The Ideal Candidate The successful applicant will: • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or be an Early Career Teacher completing training • Have experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4, with KS5 experience desirable • Be passionate about English and able to inspire high-achieving students • Have excellent subject knowledge and a commitment to academic excellence • Possess strong classroom management and communication skills • Be reflective, organised and committed to continuous professional development • Have a positive, collaborative approach to working with colleagues Early Career Teachers are encouraged to apply and will benefit from a supportive induction and mentoring programme.
