We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Chelmsford on a full-time, long-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
About the Role
As an SEN Support Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and other support staff to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs. You will play a vital role in helping children access the curriculum, develop confidence, and thrive both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN.
- Support children with ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and other additional needs.
- Assist pupils in accessing learning within the classroom.
- Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs and individual support plans.
- Encourage positive behaviour and independence.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- Help create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
Requirements
✅ Experience working with children in a school, childcare, or SEN setting
✅ A patient, supportive, and caring approach
✅ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
✅ Ability to work effectively as part of a team
✅ Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
✅ Relevant qualifications are desirable but not essential
