Job description
Position: Design & Technology Teacher Location: Nottingham Contract: Full-Time Start Date: September Key Stages: KS3–KS5 Design & Technology Teaching Role in an Academy An ambitious Academy in Nottingham is seeking to appoint a creative and technically skilled Design & Technology Teacher to join its successful DT department from September. This is a full-time role within a supportive and forward-thinking school that values innovation, practical learning, and high standards of teaching. Design & Technology is a popular and well-established subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop creativity, problem-solving skills, and technical understanding through hands-on design and making experiences. About the Role You will teach Design & Technology across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and practical lessons that inspire creativity, independence, and technical confidence. Students will explore areas such as product design, resistant materials, engineering principles, CAD/CAM, and iterative design processes, developing strong making, modelling, and evaluative skills. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Design & Technology qualifications, supporting high-quality coursework, practical projects, and strong academic outcomes. Working within a well-resourced department, you will contribute to curriculum planning, enrichment activities, and the continued development of teaching and learning. Key Responsibilities Teach Design & Technology across KS3, KS4, and KS5 Deliver engaging practical workshop-based lessons Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level DT qualifications Support coursework, design projects, and prototyping work Maintain safe workshop environments and procedures Assess student work and provide detailed, constructive feedback Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development Support STEM and design enrichment opportunities The School Environment This Academy in Nottingham provides a structured and ambitious learning environment where students are encouraged to achieve their full potential. Candidate Requirements Essential Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Experience teaching Design & Technology at secondary level Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently Strong subject knowledge in product design, materials, or engineering Strong classroom and workshop management skills Desirable Experience teaching A-Level DT Experience working in an academy or high-achieving school Ability to contribute to STEM enrichment activities Experience using CAD/CAM or modern workshop technologies How to Apply If you are interested in this Design & Technology Teacher role in Nottingham starting in September, please submit your CV.
