Job description
Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale Health & Social Care ECT A community-focused Secondary School in Plymouth is seeking a professional and highly organised Health & Social Care Early Career Teacher (ECT) to join their experienced vocational and social sciences team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a well-structured and supportive school environment where teaching staff play an essential role in the smooth operation of the school. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day instructional support across Key Stages 4 and 5 and assist senior leaders, teaching staff, and wider care teams. Responsibilities will include maintaining student progress records, updating school tracking systems, managing departmental correspondence, supporting attendance administration, and assisting with the monitoring of student work experience portfolios, health projects, and vocational assessment moderation logs. You will also support communication with parents, students, and external health or care placement providers while ensuring that information is handled professionally and confidentially at all times. Strong organisational skills are essential, as the role requires the ability to monitor diverse coursework folders and manage multiple responsibilities within a busy school environment. The school is looking for someone who is proactive, reliable, and able to bring practical care values and ethics into the classroom environment smoothly. Good IT skills and confidence using data-tracking and spreadsheet portals are important, alongside strong communication and interpersonal skills.
