Sociology Teacher - Progressive Secondary School in Brighton

Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Full-time Permanent

Sociology Teacher

A progressive Secondary School in Brighton is seeking a professional and highly organised Sociology Teacher to join their experienced Social Sciences team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a well-structured and supportive school environment where teaching staff play an essential role in the smooth operation of the school.

The successful candidate will provide day-to-day instructional support across multiple key stages specializing in social structures research methodologies demographic analysis and cultural theory. Responsibilities will include maintaining student progress records updating school tracking systems managing departmental correspondence supporting attendance administration and assisting with the organisation of field research projects community surveys and extracurricular debating forums.

You will also support communication with parents students and external community bodies while ensuring that information is handled professionally and confidentially at all times. Strong organisational skills are essential as the role requires the ability to prioritise tasks effectively and manage multiple responsibilities within a busy school environment.

The school is looking for someone who is proactive reliable and highly capable of guiding balanced evidence-based academic discussions both independently and as part of a collaborative humanities and social sciences faculty. Good IT skills and confidence using data presentation tools are important alongside strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

  • Previous teaching or relevant instructional experience in Sociology up to GCSE/A-Level

  • Strong organisational and communication skills

  • Good IT and data management skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a busy environment
