Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

Are you a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people? Do you have the patience, empathy, and commitment to support students with additional needs, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential?

GSL Education Hull branch are currently looking for an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a welcoming secondary school in North Yorkshire. We are looking for a proactive and caring individual who is passionate about supporting students with Special Educational Needs, enabling them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally within an inclusive learning environment.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, the SEND team, and pastoral staff to provide tailored support for students with a range of additional learning needs. You will play a key role in promoting independence, confidence, and positive engagement, ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Key Responsibilities as an SEN Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with Special Educational Needs, helping them access learning effectively.
  • Assist teachers in delivering differentiated learning activities and adapting resources to meet individual student needs.
  • Support students' academic, social, emotional, and personal development, encouraging confidence and independence.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and agreed intervention strategies under the guidance of teaching staff.
  • Monitor student progress and communicate observations with teachers and the wider SEND team.
  • romote positive behaviour while contributing to a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

SEN Teaching Assistant Minimum Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN in an educational, care, or support setting is desirable.
  • A good understanding of a range of additional learning needs, such as Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, or Speech and Language Needs, is advantageous.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • A patient, adaptable, and supportive approach to working with young people.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
