Job description
Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: MPS/UPS, paid to scale An ambitious, oversubscribed 11-18 academy in Birmingham is seeking a full-time Spanish Teacher to join its expanding Modern Foreign Languages department. This is a fantastic opportunity for a linguist who wants to work with motivated students in one of Birmingham's most popular and highly regarded secondary schools. The successful candidate will teach Spanish across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (AQA), with the possibility of contributing to A-level Spanish for the right candidate. The department has recently introduced a new KS3 curriculum designed to build genuine communicative confidence, and you will play a key part in bringing this to life in your classroom. Responsibilities also include contributing to the school's cultural enrichment programme, supporting the annual Spanish cultural day, and helping to maintain strong GCSE outcomes through well-targeted exam preparation strategies. School Information This 11-18 academy is one of Birmingham's most popular and oversubscribed schools, known for its high expectations, strong exam results, and the genuine warmth of its school community. The MFL department is well-regarded and ambitious, with a head of languages who is experienced, supportive, and keen to develop staff. The school's diverse student population brings a rich variety of linguistic and cultural backgrounds that makes teaching languages here a particularly rewarding experience. Requirements Degree in Spanish and QTS; fluency in Spanish essential Strong subject knowledge across KS3–4; A-level experience desirable Confidence teaching in a busy, urban secondary school environment Enthusiasm for cultural enrichment and engaging, communicative language teaching Good IT skills, including use of digital language-learning tools Application To apply, please send your CV as soon as possible.
