Job description

About us

At Halfords, our mission is to inspire and support a lifetime of motoring and cycling. As a specialist retailer, we lead the market through customer-driven innovation and a distinct product range. We are dedicated to providing our customers with an integrated, unique, and convenient service experience-from e-bike and electric vehicle servicing to on-demand solutions. Our commitment is to foster customer loyalty by offering compelling reasons to keep coming back to our stores, ensuring a lifetime of motoring and cycling enjoyment.

The teams at our Redditch Support Centre work with every other area of our business, putting them at the heart of the action and playing a key role in our success and growth. Everyone brings their individual knowledge and experience to work every day, working as one team to keep things moving smoothly.

If you’re willing to get stuck in, you’ll love it here too. So put yourself at the heart of a dynamic, fast-paced working environment where expertise and focus take people far.

About the role

Exciting opportunity for a Digital Product Owner to join our Digital Product team on a 12-month fixed term contract. This role is ideal for a strong problem solver who enjoys stepping into the customer’s shoes and collaborating with product development to deliver impactful solutions that maximise the value of products for Halfords Group.

With AI becoming an increasingly important part of our digital strategy, we’re especially keen to bring in someone with knowledge and curiosity in this space. You’ll shape the product roadmap, define priorities and ensure clear, measurable outcomes. The role spans a wide range of products offering plenty of variety, no two days will feel the same.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with internal and external customers to understand business needs, requirements, risks, impacts and benefits.
  • Build your expertise in AI as we explore integrating AI into the Halfords website and improving visibility in Google search to enhance customer journeys.
  • Own and maintain a product roadmap aligned to strategic goals, prioritising epics, features and user stories for the scrum team.
  • Turn product vision into compelling narratives, clear specifications and defined outcomes that guide and motivate development teams.
  • Lead sprint planning by clarifying requirements, breaking down work and resolving product‑related questions to support smooth delivery.
  • Use data insights and trade‑off analysis to make informed decisions, shape OKRs and drive business results.
  • Track and report on benefits realisation, ensuring value is consistently delivered.
  • Work closely with stakeholders throughout visioning, concept development, and backlog prioritisation to maximise customer value and ensure seamless end‑to‑end experiences.
  • Act as the product ambassador, managing communications, addressing queries and engaging with Product Council stakeholders to maintain alignment and transparency.

About you

  • A results‑driven individual who takes pride in delivering high‑quality work on time.
  • A confident communicator with strong stakeholder‑management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Experienced in Agile Scrum, including writing user stories and defining acceptance criteria.
  • Skilled in using analysis tools such as wireframes and business process modelling to support solution design.
  • Comfortable with technical terminology, software development practices, and web/mobile technologies experience in technical or e‑commerce environments is a plus.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills, able to bridge business and technical teams and lead effective workshops.
  • Proficient with tools like Jira, Trello, and Confluence and experienced collaborating within Scrum teams.
  • Proactive, decisive, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Knowledge of AI and how it can enhance customer journeys is highly desirable.

Reward & benefits

  • A fair and competitive salary evaluated against market data, annual discretionary bonus scheme, pension, life assurance, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and enhanced family leave.
  • Commitment and dedication to your ongoing personal and professional development. We help you to own and grow your potential so you can be at your best in your current role and to support your future career aspirations.
  • We offer hybrid working in our Support Centre, you will be based at our Support Centre 2 days a week with an optional 3 days working from home.
  • You will have access to a wealth of employee discounts across the Halfords suite of products and services.
  • Wellbeing and inclusion are at the heart of our colleague experience. We offer resources and ongoing support to enhance your wellbeing at work and active Colleague Networks supporting inclusion initiatives across Halfords.

Not sure you meet all the criteria? We'd encourage you to take the wheel and apply anyway! At Halfords we are committed to creating an inclusive workplace for our colleagues. We're an equal opportunities employer and proud to welcome applications from all backgrounds and embrace diversity within our one Halfords Family.
