Job description

Position: English Teacher Location: Luton Contract: Full-Time Start Date: September Key Stages: KS3–KS5 English Teaching Role in a Grammar School A high-achieving grammar school in Luton is seeking to appoint a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join its successful department from September. This is a full-time role within an academically ambitious and supportive school that values literacy, critical thinking, and exceptional teaching. English is a highly regarded subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop strong reading, writing, analytical, and communication skills through a broad and engaging curriculum in English Language and English Literature. About the Role You will teach English across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and intellectually stimulating lessons that inspire confidence, creativity, and academic progress. Students will study a broad range of texts including Shakespeare, poetry, prose, drama, and modern literature while developing analytical thinking, interpretation, creative writing, and communication skills. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English examinations, supporting students in achieving excellent academic outcomes and progression to higher education. You will work collaboratively within a successful English department committed to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning. Key Responsibilities Teach English across KS3, KS4, and KS5 Deliver lessons in English Language and English Literature Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level English examinations Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development Support literacy initiatives and enrichment opportunities Maintain high standards of classroom engagement and achievement The School Environment This grammar school in Luton provides a highly academic and aspirational environment where students are motivated, curious, and eager to succeed.
