Job description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included. The Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) or Trainee ANP to join our established, supportive and forward-thinking ANP team working across the Initial Assessment Unit (IAU), Acute Receiving Units (ARU3 & ARU5), Rapid Access and Acute Care (RAaC) and the Same Day Urgent Care Centre (SDUCC) at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. This is an exciting time in the development of the RAaC and acute receiving services, with the ANP role being central in delivering high-quality, patient centred unscheduled care. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting patient flow, facilitating early assessment and clinical decision-making, and contributing to safe, timely discharge or admission. We are seeking a highly motivated, adaptable and resilient individual with excellent communication, organisational and clinical skills. You will be confident working both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating advanced clinical assessment, critical thinking and decision-making skills in a fast-paced acute environment. The post holder will manage a defined caseload of patients, including those with undifferentiated and complex presentations, and will contribute to service development, clinical leadership, and the support and education of junior staff across all areas. You will join a dynamic and welcoming ANP team, working closely with experienced medical, nursing and management colleagues within a culture that values collaboration, learning and continuous improvement. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern * Location based in Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. * Permanent posts; 2x full‑time at 36 hours, 1x part‑time 18 hours. * The shift pattern for these posts are 12 hour shifts, over 7 days, including Public Holidays. Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job Essential Criteria * Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration. * Evidence of, or working towards, a Master’s level qualification in Advanced Practice. * Demonstrable competence in clinical assessment, clinical reasoning, diagnostics, and decision‑making. * Non‑Medical Prescribing qualification (or willingness to work towards). Applicants Should Be Either * A qualified ANP with experience in acute medicine and/or ambulatory care, or * An experienced RGN with the commitment and capability to undertake the ANP Training Pathway (Annexe 21 will apply until successful completion of training). What We Offer We offer a wide range of supportive policies designed to enhance your employee journey, including a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme, Cycle to Work Scheme, bursary scheme and extensive learning and development opportunities. * A minimum of 27 days annual leave, increasing with length of service, plus public holidays. * Membership of the NHS Pension Scheme, including life insurance benefits. * Salary Sacrifice Car Benefit Scheme. * Development opportunities including study bursaries, e‑learning and classroom‑based courses. * Enhanced pay for working public holidays. * NHS discounts on a wide range of goods and services. * Confidential employee support and assistance, including counselling and psychological therapies.
