Job description
Swimming Teacher - Shropshire Community Leisure Trust, Market Drayton

Location: Market Drayton, TF9 1JT

Contract Type: Casual / Part Time

Working hours: Various hours available between Monday to Sunday

Salary: 13 to 16.98 per hour depending on experience + excellent benefits

At Serco, we're pleased to be recruiting on behalf of Shropshire Community Leisure Trust.

Shropshire Community Leisure Trust encourages active, healthy lifestyles across the local community. Providing affordable access to a wide range of sports and leisure facilities in a safe, clean, friendly and welcoming space, their goal is to support healthier and happier lives for everyone. Delivering these services relies on an enthusiastic, customer-focused team, and they're now looking for Swimming Teachers to join their team and help make a positive difference every day.

By following the tried and tested Swim England learn to swim framework we develop the confidence in all of our swimmers through fun and enjoyable lessons. Many of our swimmers have progressed to swim competitively and even to represent our country.

Teaching our swimming lessons will see you delivering safe fun and progressive lessons for our baby and pre-school customers, but this is also a mentality we take towards our teachers' careers and personal development. We want you to feel safe in your employment so we will contract you for as little or many teaching hours as you want around your current commitments.

Paying for your own safeguarding and DBS checks aren't fun or cheap so we provide these for you! There's also no need to hold your own personal insurance as you will be covered by ours. Working for us will enable you to work within all our leisure centres as well as giving you excellent personal and career development through continued training and learning opportunities.

Our in-house Aquatic Training Academy will provide you with ongoing training through our specialist CPDs in swimming teaching, meaning you can access a range of training throughout your career, and when it comes to that career we have a solid pathway in place meaning there is opportunity to progress into management or other areas in the business.

We share your passion for leisure and want you to be able to embrace all the excellent services we provide to our customers which is why all of teachers are given a free membership as well as one for a friend or family member.

What you'll need to do the role

You'll have excellent customer service skills and be someone who is happy to deal with people of all ages and back grounds.

You will need to hold either a STA Award/Certificate in Teaching Swimming or Swim England (Previously ASA) Level 2.

Holding either a valid RLSS UK NPLQ, RLSS UK NRASTC or STA Safety Award for Teachers would be advantageous but not essential as we can provide the training to complete these courses free of charge.

If you do not yet hold the relevant qualifications to teach swimming but you are looking to start a career with us, please do not worry as we have multiple qualified Swimming Teacher Tutors across our business and often run training courses. Please submit your application and we will be in touch when we have a course running near you.

This role will require a DBS check.

Why Join us

A place you can make an impact: Swimming not only makes people healthier and happier it also teaches a skill for life. As one of our teachers you will be at the forefront of helping people develop those skills.

A place you can count on: Our swimming teachers are integral to the running of our centres, so as well progressing into aquatics coordination you can move into other centre management roles in one of our 55 facilities.

A place for you: Teaching can lead to a great sense of accomplishment as you watch people progress and work with your local community. And as you are supporting your students, we will be supporting you with ongoing training and development.

What we offer

Free membership at the Centre plus heavily discounted use of classes and facilities.
Free safeguarding training and DBS check
Excellent Development and Training Opportunities
6% employer matched pension contribution
Up to 25 days annual leave + Public Holidays
Life assurance up to 2x base salary
