Job description
Librarian - Independent Secondary School - Winchester Start Date: As soon as possible Contract: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Paid to scale Librarian An Independent Secondary School in Winchester is seeking an enthusiastic and organised Librarian to lead and develop its well-established library provision. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about literacy, learning and supporting young people in developing a lifelong love of reading. The successful candidate will oversee the daily management of the library, ensuring it remains an engaging, welcoming and productive learning environment for students across KS3, KS4 and KS5. You will be responsible for maintaining library resources, managing stock, supporting research activities and promoting reading throughout the school community. Working closely with teaching staff and senior leaders, you will support literacy initiatives, curriculum projects and independent learning programmes. The role will also involve organising author visits, reading challenges, book fairs and enrichment activities designed to increase student engagement with reading and learning. You will play a key role in helping students access appropriate resources, develop research skills and become confident independent learners. Strong communication and organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
