Job description

SEN Primary School Teaching Assistant :

As a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Primary School Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to pupils with a range of additional learning needs, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential within an inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Support children with special educational needs, including autism spectrum condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), and learning disabilities.
Work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to implement individual education plans (IEPs), education health and care plans (EHCPs), and targeted interventions.
Provide one-to-one and small-group support to enhance pupils' academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
Adapt learning materials and activities to meet individual learning needs and abilities.
Encourage pupil independence, confidence, and positive self-esteem.
Monitor and record pupil progress, behaviour, and achievements, providing regular feedback to teaching staff and parents where appropriate.
Support classroom management and promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
Assist pupils with personal care needs when required, maintaining dignity and safeguarding standards.
Use positive behaviour management strategies to support engagement and emotional regulation.
Collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, external professionals, and families to ensure consistent support for pupils.
Ensure compliance with school safeguarding, health and safety, and equality policies at all times.
