Job description
Are you a reliable team-player with a passion for engines PETA Ltd are looking to source an exceptional Engineering Operative Apprentice for our client Hampshire Generators based in Exton in Hampshire. This role involves working in a team learning a variety of tasks across the business.

Training to be provided:

As anEngineering Operative Apprentice you will be studying a Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprenticeship. Throughout your apprenticeship with Hampshire Generators you will be supported by your company mentor and your PETA Learning and Development Coach.
Your apprenticeship programme includes working towards a Level 2 Diploma and Level 2 Certificate in Engineering Operations.
Overall duration 15 months.

About the role:

Joining the team at Hampshire Generators as an Engineering Operative Apprentice you will have a willingness to learn and good communication with your team.Your area of learning on the job will be:
  • Service and Repair small petrol driven generators / ancillary equipment as well as larger diesel-powered generators that use Perkins Cummins Volvo engines among others
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot machines and control systems in our workshop or remotely assisting customers and our own engineers
  • PDI Modify and Inspect Generators before despatch to customers sites
  • Check/Repair returned machines for warranty claims
  • Work with the service team and workshop foreman to ensure the workshops runs smoothly
  • Source and order parts for routine maintenance and repair of current and obsolete engines and generators if necessary
  • Talk to customers in person and on the phone to provide updates/information on jobs in progress or on completion
  • Complete paperwork reports and log/update/complete jobs on our service system
  • Occasionally visit customers sites to service and repair installed generators

Essential Skills:An apprenticeship is all about learning new knowledge skills and behaviours therefore to be considered for this role you must be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in engineering and a willingness to learn.
To be considered for the role of a Workshop Engineer Apprentice you will have an interest in technical/practical work and have a passion to work in the engineering industry.You will also require the following skills and qualifications:
  • 2 GCSEs at grade C (4) or above or equivalents in maths and English
  • Good communication
  • Work well in a team
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm
  • Good at listening and following instructions
