About BaseKit

BaseKit is a white-label software development company specialising in designing effortless mobile-first digital tools for small businesses. We're on a mission to democratise tech so that everyone has the confidence to build a business online.

Combined with our 60+ partners’ global reach across 40 markets, our AI, no-code website builder, e-commerce and bookings solutions and responsive editor, allow anyone to start a business and thrive online from their mobile, tablet or desktop.

We believe in simplicity, accessibility, and a web that works for everyone. With a remote-first team and a supportive, inclusive culture, we’re committed to making great products and enjoying the journey along the way.

BaseKit is a certified B Corporation, with a mission to be a force for good: transforming entrepreneurial spirit into successful small businesses, enabling thriving communities and economies through effortless digital tools.

We believe in “people before pixels”, in tech democracy for small businesses, and in building an inclusive, just and equitable environment where everyone can bring their best selves to work each day.

BaseKit isn’t just a place to work, it’s a place to be part of something bigger. Career development, an open culture and the opportunity to learn new skills are part of our DNA. And if something’s not right? We fix it. We move fast and we make an impact. Are you ready to do the same?

Role Overview

We’re looking for a UI/UX Designer to join our team and help us design clear, thoughtful experiences across our products. You’ll work closely with the product team, engineers, and marketing to turn ideas and requirements into intuitive user flows, well-crafted interfaces, and polished UI. You’ll contribute to wireframes, prototypes, and final designs, help maintain and evolve our design system, and support the marketing team with high-quality UI assets for launches and campaigns. Along the way, you’ll take part in research, feedback sessions, and design reviews - learning, iterating, and helping us continually improve how our products look and feel and deliver real value for the people who use them.

Responsibilities

  • Designing end-to-end flows using our existing design system
  • Providing everything required for dev-handoff
  • Communicating with the product-development team to ensure that the delivered product matches initial UX expectations
  • Working with the product team to validate design proposals through UX testing
  • Designing new features and improvements for existing products
  • Adapting our design system to accommodate new components
  • Collaborate closely with product director, product architect, engineers, and developers to iterate on solutions and refine designs
  • Support the marketing team by providing UI assets, such as product screenshots, mockups, feature-in-action videos and visual elements for websites, campaigns, and launch materials
  • Participate in design critiques and team reviews, incorporating feedback to improve design quality and craft
  • Stay curious and up to date with UX, UI, and product design trends, tools, and best practices

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience designing responsive digital products.
  • A strong portfolio of user-led work.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of presenting ideas clearly.
  • Experience working with tools such as Figma and Miro.
  • A strong understanding of user-centred design principles.
  • Familiarity with working with design systems.

Nice to Have (Not Essential)

  • Experience working in an agile development environment.
  • Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g., Mixpanel) to inform design decisions.
  • Understanding of the front-end development process
  • Experience with product video creation

What It’s Like to Work for BaseKit

  • Flexible hours: We value work-life balance and trust our team
  • Flexible hybrid working, ideally we would like you in our office in Bristol at least once per week
  • Supportive culture: We’re inclusive, transparent, and people-focused
  • Career development: We invest in your learning and growth
  • Great benefits:
    • 25 days per year holiday rising with length of service
    • Time off between Christmas and New Year on us
    • Pension scheme with Aviva
    • Vitality healthcare plan with the option to add family
    • Excellent family friendly leave benefits.

Diversity & Inclusion at BaseKit

At BaseKit, we believe that diversity drives innovation and makes us stronger. We’re committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected and empowered to be their authentic selves - regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, disability, religion, or background.

We actively promote equality and inclusion at every stage of the employee journey - from recruitment and onboarding to progressions and development. We recognise that building a truly inclusive culture requires ongoing work, and we’re committed to listening, learning and evolving.

Our Hiring Process

We aim to keep it simple, respectful, and transparent:

  1. Application to include CV & portfolio
  2. Initial call to include portfolio presentation
  3. Practical UI exercise - A short task to prepare at home
  4. Final Interview - A deeper dive into your experience and skills

We’re committed to inclusive hiring and want you to feel comfortable and supported throughout the process. If you need accommodations or support at any stage of the hiring process, please let us know - we’re here to help.

If you share our values and are excited about this role, but don’t meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply. We care deeply about building a team with a range of experiences and perspectives.

To apply for this role, please submit your CV and portfolio along with brief written responses to the following questions. Your portfolio should showcase relevant examples of your work and demonstrate your experience and approach. The questions below are designed to help us understand your skills, thought process, and suitability for the role, so please answer them as clearly and concisely as possible when submitting your application.
