DT ECT – Forward-Thinking School in Winchester

A forward-thinking Mixed Secondary School in Winchester is seeking an organised and enthusiastic Design and Technology (DT) Early Career Teacher (ECT) to support their successful DT department. The successful candidate will inspire teaching and learning by delivering engaging high-quality practical lessons and innovative design projects. You will maintain a productive workshop environment manage materials and machinery safely and ensure that DT classrooms remain inspiring and fully equipped for both theoretical and hands-on manufacturing.

Responsibilities will include planning and delivering curriculum content across various material specialisms (such as product design timbers or electronics) managing workshop resources and supporting health and safety procedures throughout the department. You may also assist with exhibitions of student work engineering challenges and departmental enrichment activities across the school.

The role requires someone who is practical organised and enthusiastic about Design Engineering and Technology. Strong attention to detail a focus on workshop safety and the ability to manage multiple practical tasks effectively are essential. Requirements * QTS / ECT status (or equivalent recognized teaching qualification)

• Degree in Design and Technology Engineering Product Design or a related discipline

• Strong practical workshop skills and familiarity with hand tools and machinery

• Knowledge of DT curricula exam specifications and health & safety standards (e.g. DATA certification)

• Creative and proactive approach to classroom management and STEM initiatives
