Job description

Qualified Teacher – SEN Secondary & Post-16 Setting (Blackley) – September 2026

Do you have the passion, skills, and experience to inspire young people with additional needs and make a lasting difference in their educational journey?

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting Qualified Teachers who are interested in opportunities within a specialist secondary and post-16 setting in Blackley for the 2026/27 academic year.

This specialist provision supports pupils with a range of learning disabilities and additional needs, helping them develop academically, socially, and emotionally within a structured and nurturing environment. The school caters for students across KS3, KS4, and Post-16, with all learners holding an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Staff work collaboratively to ensure every student receives the tailored support they need to achieve their full potential.

The Role

As a Qualified Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching, fostering positive relationships, and creating engaging learning experiences that meet the diverse needs of students. Working closely with support staff, therapists, and other professionals, you will help students develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for future success.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to students' individual needs.
  • Creating an inclusive learning environment that promotes participation, independence, and achievement.
  • Assessing, monitoring, and reporting on student progress in line with individual targets and EHCP outcomes.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and wider professionals to support student development.
  • Supporting the social, emotional, and behavioural needs of learners.
  • Implementing strategies to promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement.
  • Contributing to annual reviews, assessments, and educational planning.
  • Supporting students during enrichment activities, educational visits, and transition periods.
  • Maintaining high expectations while adapting teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs.
  • Helping to create a safe, supportive, and nurturing school environment.

Every day brings new opportunities and challenges, making this an ideal role for a creative, resilient, and adaptable teacher who is passionate about SEND education.

What We're Looking For

The school would particularly welcome applications from candidates who:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have experience teaching children or young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Are confident adapting lessons and teaching strategies to meet a range of learning needs.
  • Have strong classroom management skills and can build positive relationships with students.
  • Demonstrate patience, resilience, and a commitment to inclusive education.
  • Are able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Have experience supporting students with learning disabilities, autism, communication needs, or complex needs (desirable).
  • Hold Team Teach training or are willing to undertake additional training.
  • Are committed to helping students achieve greater independence, confidence, and success.

Why Apply Through Teaching Personnel?

  • Competitive daily rates in line with experience and responsibilities.
